“My First Fair Isle Hat” Class


Friday March 13th 1-3PM                 $25.00

Learn to knit in beautiful Fair Isle style! It’s fun, but beware. It’s very addicting!

Supplies needed:

• 1 ball Rowan Pure Wool Worsted

• 1 ball self striping worsted weight • yarn such as Kureyon or Silk Garden

• 1 set 16” size 7 circular needles

• 1 set 16” size 8 circular needles

• stitch markers

Skill requirements: Students must know how to cast on and off, knit, purl, and decrease. Note to Students: Please come to class with your hat ribbing completed (approximately 1.5” of ribbing or your desired length). That way we can spend the class time focusing on learning how to complete the Fair Isle section of the hat!


Beginning Knitting

Saturday, February 14, 21, 28 and March 7          9-11 am $45

1st Class: Discussion of yarns, yarn weight. Learn the basics of knitting, slip knot, cast on, knit stitch, bind off, how to manage yarn while knitting.

2nd Class: Learn the purl stitch, joining yarn, bind off increases, decreases and discussion of importance of getting gauge. Preparation to start first project and selection of yarn.

3rd Class: Cover anything missed in first 2 classes, ribbing, reading patterns and assistance with work on project.

4th Class: Continue work on projects.

Materials needed: The Knitters Companion, 1 skein worsted weight yarn (for practice) and size 8 needles

Beginning Knitting

Have fun learning the basic knit stitch, as well as how to correct common beginner mistakes, while creating a lovely garter-stitch scarf or hat. No previous knitting experience required!!

We will be knitting with chunky weight yarn 300 – 400 yards for a scarf.This way it knits up fast and you can wear your creation quickly! Have with you on class day circular or straight needles in a size determined by your yarn choice. Our friendly staff will help you pick out a yarn you will love and needles that correspond! We have lots of yummy,soft yarns to choose from!

Cost: $25, plus supplies, to be purchased in advance of class day if possible. If not, please arrive early to choose your yarn and needles!

Fridays 10:30 am – 12:30 ..starting January 23rd

Please call ahead to register. We require at least three people to offer the class rate of $25. Bring your friends for a relaxing outing together! Knitting is often more fun when you share it with others!


Feb 7, Feb 21, Feb 28   1-3PM

This class will teach you the fundamentals of sock knitting.  We’ll learn to knit socks with double points, 9″ circulars and/or Magic Loop…student’s choice!

Materials required:

  1. 100 grams of fingering weight yarn
  2. size 2 needles, double point required, 9″ circular recommended, 40″ circular if you wish to learn Magic Loop
  3. Churchmouse Basic Sock pattern


Knit & Yoga
Instructor Bonnie Ottaviani returns to Yarns Unlimited for Saturday sessions of “Knit & Yoga”.
Come learn how to avoid tense shoulders, achy hands & wrists from too much knitting (ok, we know there is no such thing, but you know what I mean!)
No experience necessary-
Bring your knitting, as we knit between exercises.

 Guardian Angel

Guardian Angel meetings for March are the 5th and 12th.

Guardian Angel sessions meet the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month (unless otherwise posted). Stop in for help from Rebecca, or just knit and visit!
